Young Mrs.peacock had a Farm!

This weekend My husband was drilling (Marine Training) So i decided i would try and get some more of the quiet book finished. I got to work on making the barn and finger puppet animals.

After one sadly failed attempt at making the barn i finally finished it.. YAY! I had gotten my sewing machine out of storage yet I still did this all by hand.. I find sewing my hand somewhat relaxing and therapeutic.... Anyways here it the finished product!

Lets all do the Robot!

Take me to your leader!!
So I as some may know I have been working on a quiet book for each of my boys. I started by googling pictures of quiet books and then a flood of ideas came forth. Well one of the sets of pages I designed is about space kind of stuff. One side has a fun detachable robot with a zipper pouch that contains nuts and bolts and a heart. The other side is a movable rocket and planets you can see the pictures below of the sketches i made for the pages.

well after 5 hours of hand stitching, cutting, and embroidering, I am finished., With the Robot.. Well almost I have some little tweaking I still need to do but it is pretty much complete! It is good for my first run at it I know now how I can improve when I make the second one, I really hope I get my sewing machine out of strogae soon.. It would go alot faster.. i think

3.2.1. BLAST OFF!

Sometimes it's the little simple things in life we remember.
one of my earlier memories is of a cloth quiet book I had for church. My mom might say it wasnt anything really impressive but the memories I have of it are found ones that i would like to pass onto my own children. So I am doing just that.

STEP ONE: Research & a little inspiration
I did some research online, mainly just googled some pics of quiet books to get some ideas of some pages i might make for mine.

Once I started doing this my imagination mixed with my crazy pregnancy dreams came out a flood of ideas so i got them on paper. which leads to..

STEP TWO: Outline
Sketch it, write it, whateveer, just remember you dont have to be Van Gough!
Everything you do must have a plan an outline of some sort or at least an idea of what you want the end product to look like, and what it will take to get there.

STEP THREE: Gathering
Gather materials whatever they may be, your outline should help you know what you need to make your craft. Now all you have to do it start putting it together

STEP FOUR: Putin' it together
Put it together sew paste color draw whatever it may be do it. remember to have fun. Doing a craft should never feel like work or be stressful, If it becomes so take a break and move on to something differnt.

STEP FIVE: Enjoy
ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY. relish and remember to compliment yourself on a job well done becasue being a mother and trying to find time to do something other than wiping runnny noses and poopy bottoms is difficult in the first place, so if your craft dosent turn out perfect or quite the way you imagined it just, dont worry because like myself and my Memories of my quiet book, although my Mom says it was not impressive or well made It was very special to me asit will be to my children.
